PC’s are frequently craving “the most powerful, the most OT processing”; they are drawn to whatever is promoted this way, whatever is “at the top of the chart”, whatever they’ve seen or heard expressed as “the most powerful processing”- L’s, Power, etc. But what is going to do the most for the being is the process that most perfectly parallels what case material is actively impinging on that individual here and now, whatever that might be.

Last week, my PC was asking me if we could run something to help him with problems he’d been having in creating and having money. Having programmed the case based on a searching interview, I was happy to explain to him that the very next process on the program was right in line with this.

The process was R1-11 (Expanded), from the book Creation of Human Ability, in my opinion a much under-appreciated collection of excellent processes. I expanded the commands to include flows that were not yet in use when these were written:

R1-11 Problems and Solutions in Havingness Expanded(COHA)

Run each step alternate/repetitive to F/N (if metered), completed expression of meaningful cognition and VGI’s.. On each question of each step, allow PC to give all the answers they have before moving to the next question.

Step A: Problems

(1) What kind of a problem can others be to you in havingness?

(2) What kind of a problem can others be to you in not-havingness?

(3) What kind of a problem can someone be to another in havingness?

(4) What kind of a problem can someone be to another in not-havingness?

(5) What kind of a problem can you be to others in havingness?

(6) What kind of a problem can you be to others in not-havingness?

(7) What kind of a problem can another be to theirself in havingness?

(8) What kind of a problem can another be to theirself in not-havingness?

(9) What kind of a problem can you be to yourself in havingness?

(10) What kind of a problem can you be to yourself in not-havingness?

Step B: Solutions

(1) What kind of a solution can others be to you in havingness?

(2) What kind of a solution can others be to you in not-havingness?

(3) What kind of a solution can someone be to another in havingness?

(4) What kind of a solution can someone be to another in not-havingness?

(5) What kind of a solution can you be to others in havingness?

(6) What kind of a solution can you be to others in not-havingness?

(7) What kind of a solution can another be to theirself in havingness?

(8) What kind of a solution can another be to theirself in not-havingness?

IN running these processes to EP, the PC expressed cognitions and changes in ability to have, experience and create flows, and that he was now feeling quite OT!

This week, the PC emailed me to say that “One thing that is not flapping for me right now and is in fact doing well now and totally effortlessly is finances!”

One cannot overstate the importance of understanding each person as an individual, having knowledge of a wealth of processing choices, understanding what technique will best address any particular case material, and programming and processing accordingly. This is what is meant by “paralleling the mind”.
