If there’s a secret to being happy, maybe this is it.

When you present a facade, a posture, an assumed attitude, or presentation of self to protect from unacceptance and to be liked, it is not you being respected, liked, or loved, and you become further steeped in an underlying feeling of being unloved. There’s no actual reason not to be comfortable in your own skin, and thereby easy and attractive to be around.
