Anxiety: the feeling of “Nothing is OK the way it is“

The essential description of anxiety is, “nothing is OK the way it is“. As a coping mechanism, you then go about trying to “fix“ things to try to make everything “OK“. Coping mechanisms are Band-Aids. They are ephemerally helpful, But not the way one wants to have to go through life. The lasting solution is to find or have a way to process and digest the feeling of anxiety, and more deeply, the self programmed attitudes that brand the anxiety, helpful, and protective, and reconsider and deconstruct these attitudes.

That’s how we make change happen in sessions.

Best, Dex
